Last week a protest in a South African platinum mine left 44 people dead in the most fatal police incident since South Africa became a democracy. Ten people, including two police officers and two security guards, were killed during the protests before the police shooting. Then the police officers shot into the crowd killing 34 of the protesters. Now 270 of the protesters are being charged with murder due to provoking the police. This is due to a controversial law in South Africa.
